Learn how to use Dataplace
Using the Dataplace Training environment is a great way to get familiar with the way Dataplace works.
The Dataplace Training environment has a pink banner to distinguish it from Dataplace. It functions just like Dataplace, but it is a separate environment.
To get onboard the Training environment and start testing, you need to:
- be enrolled with an authentication service eg VANguard
- accept the Training environment Terms of Use for the organisation (though you will still have to formally accept the Terms of Use when you are setting up on Dataplace)
- assign an Organisation administrator and set up other key Dataplace roles
- set up a group email inbox – Dataplace will send notifications in the Training environment (for example: dataplacetraining@agencyx.gov.au)
Most Australian Government agencies are already enrolled with VANguard and this should work in the Training environment.
Universities generally use the Australian Access Federation authentication service, but this does not work in the Training environment. Follow these instructions to get access.
The Training environment is set to send requests to all organisations in the system. If your organisation is a Data custodian on Dataplace, you can sent practice requests to your own organisation. If your organisation is not a Data custodian on Dataplace, you will need to arrange with another government agency willing to receive practice requests. If you do not have contacts to make this kind of arrangement, contact us for assistance.
See the Training access guide for more information.
Once you're onboard, you're ready to sign in and get started.
