Australia’s Digital ID System operates under the Digital ID Act 2024 commencing on 1 December 2024.
The Australian Government Digital ID System provides a secure, convenient, and voluntary way to verify who you are and the organisation you represent on Dataplace.
The Australian Government Digital ID System is delivered and supported by six agencies, they are:
- Department of Finance
- The System Administrator
- Services Australia
- The Australia Competition and Consumer Commission
- Office of the Australian Information Commissioner
- The Treasury’s Data Standards Body
- Australian Taxation Office
In addition to MyID, The Australian Government Digital ID System includes the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). For participating organisations this enables you to use your Digital ID to act on behalf of your business when accessing and participating in Dataplace services.
Using RAM to access Dataplace
Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) is an authorisation service that allows you to act on behalf of an entity online when linked with your Digital ID, like myID.

Linking your Digital ID to an ABN using RAM
How you link depends on your role.

Principal authority
A principal authority is a person responsible for the entity. They need to link to the entity in RAM first and with a Strong Digital ID, they can link to the business online. Once linked, the principal authority can authorise others to access government online services like Dataplace on behalf of the entity.

Authorised user or administrator
An authorised user or administrator is someone who acts on behalf of an entity.
A principal authority or authorisation administrator needs to authorise you before you can access Dataplace on behalf of an entity.
Use your Digital ID to log into RAM and accept an authorisation request.
