Learn how to use Dataplace
Using the Dataplace Training environment is a great way to get familiar with the way Dataplace works.
The Dataplace Training environment has a pink banner to distinguish it from Dataplace. It functions just like Dataplace, but it is a separate environment.
To onboard to the training environment you need to:
- be enrolled with an authentication service
- accept the training environment Terms of Use for the organisation
- assign an organisation administrator. It is recommended you also set up other key Dataplace roles
- add up a group email. Dataplace will send notifications in the training environment in the same way as the live environment. We recommend that you use a dedicated email for this to ensure there is no confusion. For example: dataplacetraining@agencyx.gov.au
Most Australian Government agencies are already enrolled with VANguard and this should work in the training environment.
The training environment is set to send requests to all organisations in the system. If your organisation is a data custodian on Dataplace, you can sent practice requests to your own organisation. If your organisation is not a data custodian on Dataplace, you will need to arrange with another government agency willing to receive practice requests. If you do not have contacts to make this kind of arrangement, contact us for assistance.
Universities generally use the Australian Access Federation authentication service, but this does not work in the training environment. Follow these instructions to get access.
